Who Are We?
The Oy Birliği movement, which emerged with the idea of increasing democratic awareness, was founded in 2022 and quickly found broad social support. During the 2023 presidential and parliamentary general elections, the public interest and support for this idea created the need for it to transform into an institutional structure. Accordingly, in 2024, the Oy Birliği Association was officially established and began its activities.
The Oy Birliği Association is an independent and innovative non-governmental organization founded with the aim of building sustainable bridges between academia and the world of practice, and of raising social awareness in the field of law.
Through the prestigious events it has organized so far, our association has brought together academics, lawyers, public officials, and private sector professionals. With its participatory and interdisciplinary approach, Oy Birliği aims not only to produce legal knowledge but also to ensure that this knowledge contributes to social and institutional transformation.
For us, every vote matters for a strong democracy, and democracy is indispensable for Turkey. Therefore, every vote we protect actually means protecting the future of our country. Mission
The mission of the Oy Birliği Association is to undertake initiatives that reinforce the rule of law, institutional transparency, and civic participation. By integrating academic scholarship with practical expertise, the Association seeks to establish sustainable and structured channels of dialogue among regulatory bodies, public authorities, and private sector stakeholders.
In furtherance of this mission, the Association organizes congresses and professional training programs addressing sectoral developments—particularly in the fields of finance, energy, insurance, and public policy—through a comprehensive legal perspective. Additionally, through national and international youth and research projects, the Association promotes participatory democracy, critical inquiry, and social cohesion.
The overarching objective is to enhance knowledge dissemination, strengthen legal awareness among individuals and institutions, and contribute meaningfully and sustainably to social development.
Vision
The Oy Birliği Association aspires to become a leading center of excellence, both in Turkey and internationally, in the fields of legal scholarship, research, and education.
It envisions a future in which access to knowledge is democratized, the law is effectively and consistently applied across all spheres of social life, and human rights and ethical principles constitute the foundation of governance and society.
In pursuit of this vision, the Association not only conducts academic initiatives but also develops national and international platforms that foster engagement among young scholars, researchers, and professionals. By convening diverse disciplines and societal stakeholders within a common framework, the Oy Birliği Association remains committed to contributing to the advancement of a more participatory, transparent, and just global order.
